Alan Gates is a senior staff engineer at Datadog, a leading observability and security platform. He is part of the Data Platform team, where he focuses on the query stack. Prior to Datadog he was a cofounder of Hortonworks and involved with several projects in the Apache Hadoop ecosystem. When not at work he’s likely riding his bike or reading an old book.
