Observability Workshop at ENSEK | Datadog
Datadog Field Event

Observability Day at ENSEK RSVP

Time

Wednesday, July 22
9:30 AM

Location

ENSEK
30-34 Hounds Gate

These workshops are delivered in two parts, designed to build your team's Datadog knowledge progressively before bringing everyone together for a full day of hands-on learning.

Part 1: Online Sessions, July 22nd Before the onsite day, your team will complete three online sessions covering the core foundations of the Datadog platform: an introduction to the platform, log management and processing, and APM. These sessions are structured as pre-work to ensure everyone arrives at the onsite day with a shared baseline — so we can spend that time going deeper rather than covering the basics.

Part 2: Onsite Day, July 23rd The onsite day builds directly on the online sessions with three focused workshops: configuring monitors and alerting, building effective dashboards, and a hands-on SRE workshop where your teams will instrument and troubleshoot a live application end-to-end.

Calendar placeholders, invites and more details will follow once you sign up below.

Day 1: Datadog 101 An Overview of the Datadog Platform

An introduction to the Datadog platform for anyone new to the tool. Covers infrastructure monitoring from data collection through to dashboards and explorers, and touches on the three pillars of observability - metrics, logs, and traces. Attendees will leave with the foundational knowledge needed to use Datadog for troubleshooting and visibility. No prior Datadog experience required.

Day 1: LOG 102 From 0 to Hero with Log Management and Processing

09:30 BST 09:45 BST

Day 1: LOG 102 From 0 to Hero with Log Management and Processing

Covers how to take control of your logs - finding issues in your configurations, building effective pipelines, and structuring log data for easy querying. Attendees will learn how log ingestion works, how to configure indexes to retain only what matters, and how to format JSON logs for maximum visibility. Recommended prerequisite: familiarity with Datadog and the Datadog Agent.

Day 1: APM 101 How to Utilise APM Data

09:45 BST 10:15 BST

Day 1: APM 101 How to Utilise APM Data

For teams already using APM who want to go deeper. Covers how to use trace data for debugging, correlate APM data with logs and metrics, and create retention filters to keep only high-value traces. Attendees will also explore the Service Catalog to establish team ownership and learn how to trace errors back to their source in code. Recommended prerequisite: regular use of Datadog APM and familiarity with the platform.

Day 2: Datadog 102 Visualising Data for Clear Comprehension Across All Levels

Best practices for building dashboards that communicate clearly, covering widgets, variable templates, power-packs, and saved views. Attendees will learn how to graph different data types (logs, metrics, traces) and optimise information density.

Day 2: Datadog 106-WS Site Reliability Engineer & Development Workshop

A hands-on workshop where attendees monitor a live containerised application using the Datadog Agent, Logs, APM, Alerting, and Dashboards. Practical and self-directed - participants configure and troubleshoot themselves rather than watching demos. By the end, attendees will be comfortable navigating the full Datadog platform and understanding how all the pieces fit together. Builds directly on the morning sessions.
